The Ivy Center for Education will meet from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Faith Presbyterian Church, 913 University Drive. State Rep. Ken Ferguson will be the guest speaker. Students in 7-12th grades are encouraged to attend.


The Ivy Center will present Ferguson as a part of their speakers bureau where community supporters share information with students and parents on issues that affect student success, according to a news release.


Ferguson will discuss education legislative updates, the Arkansas Lottery Scholarship and the importance of taking the ACT.


Ferguson is a 1973 graduate of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in social science and is a 1969 graduate of the former Merrill High School in Pine Bluff. He worked in Pine Bluff city government for 27 years.
