White Hall (2-1) jumped out to a 14-0 lead over Sheridan in the first half Thursday night before allowing the Yellowjackets to score 21 unanswered points in the second half on their way to a victory over the Bulldogs.
White Hall got on board first on a 35-yard pass from Matthew Martinez to Kam Robinson witb 8:13 remaining in the second quarter. Sheridan blocked the point after try, giving White Hall the 6-0 lead.
After both teams traded possessions, Sheridan looked poised to put one in the end zone before halftime, but Braylon Johnson picked off an Aiden Lucas pass, and returned it 93-yards for the score with 23 seconds remaining until halftime. Dante Buckner added the two-point conversion to put White Hall up 14-0.
Sheridan scored on their opening drive of the second half on a one-yard run by Peyton Edwards with 7:42 remaining in the third quarter. Javier Gonzalas hit the PAT to pull the Yellowjackets within seven.
The Bulldogs would throw an interception on their next possession, then Edwards would take the direct snap 65-yards for a touchdown with 3:18 remaining in the third. Gonzalas hit the PAT to tie the game up at 14.
White Hall would throw their second interception of the night on their next possession, allowing Sheridan to score the go ahead touchdown with 21 seconds left in the third quarter on a four-yard run by Edwards. The PAT gave Sheridan the 21-14 lead.
Both teams went scoreless in the final quarter of play as a torrential downpour began, and slowed both teams down.
Matthew Martinez went 8-of-16 passing for 58 yards, and one touchdown, while Donta Buckner had seven carries for 23 yards. Kam Robinson had three receptions for 39 yards and one touchdown to lead White Hall.
Peyton Edwards paced Sheridan on 19 carries for 144 yards and three touchdowns, while Aiden Lucas had 21 carries for 89 yards.
White Hall will now get ready for a match up against Maumelle on September 27th. That game will be played at Bulldog Stadium.
