The Quapaw Nation and the Downstream Development Authority will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Saracen Annex at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Saracen Casino building site, 3513 Market St.

The Saracen Annex, which includes 300 slot machines and employs more than 200 people, opens to the public three and a half months after the awarding of a gaming license by the Arkansas Racing Commission, according to a news release.

Construction of the main Saracen Casino Resort property is still ongoing, and the annex will remain a permanent part of the overall development, according to the release.

Participants at the ribbon cutting will include John L. Berrey, chairman of the Quapaw Nation and Downstream Development Authority; Pine Bluff Mayor Shirley Washington, Jefferson County Judge Gerald Robinson and members of the Pine Bluff Regional Chamber of Commerce.
