Anniversaries


Watkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 800 S. Juniper St., will celebrate the 29th anniversary of the pastor, the Rev. Kenneth E. Jones Sr., at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Melvin Harrison, pastor of St. Ollie Missionary Baptist Church at Star City.


Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 3004 S. Kentucky St., will celebrate its 144th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Aaron Barnes, pastor of New Home Missionary Baptist Church, accompanied by his congregation.


New Jericho Missionary Baptist Church, 1600 N. Lindell St., will celebrate the 13th anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Don Zell and Ardelia Jones, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Robert Iverson, pastor of Daniel Chapel Baptist Church.


New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 1317 S. Texas St., will observe its 119th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6. The guest speaker will be the Rev. George Waters Jr., pastor of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, accompanied by his congregation.


Victory Faith Church, 1517 S. Poplar St., will celebrate 22 years of ministry during Kingdom Harvest Campmeeting at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Charles Adkins, pastor of Second Baptist Church at Dumas.


Barnes Temple Church of God in Christ, 10301 Princeton Pike, will celebrate the 39th anniversary of the pastor and wife, Willie J. Brown and Cakneller Brown. At 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, the guest speaker will be Elder Hayward Battles of Faith Temple/Eagle Church of God in Christ. At 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, the featured speaker will be Elder Paul Robinson of Acts 2:4 Church of God in Christ at Little Rock.


Indiana Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1114 Indiana St., will celebrate its 130th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6. The Rev. Steven King, pastor of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, and his congregation will be the special guests. The church was established in 1889 and the current pastor is the Rev. Brian Castle.


Concerts


Family Time Baptist Church and Ministries, 501 Ohio St., will host the union night of the Pine Bluff Quartet Local at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6. Guests will include Men In Christ, Union Choir and Spiritualettes.


Men’s/Women’s events


Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St., will host its annual women’s day service at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6. The guest speaker will be Cassandra Shaw of New Faith Missionary Baptist Church.


New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow will celebrate its men’s and women’s day at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Woodrow Jackson Sr. of New United Missionary Baptist Church, accompanied by his congregation.


First Street Church of Christ at Wabbaseka will host the fifth bi-annual ladies day program from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 5. Breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m., registration opens at 8 a.m. and the prayer circle will be begin 8:30 a.m. Participants will include Carla McClain and Lashae Thomas. Lunch will be provided after the program.


Revivals


Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 4807 W. Sixth Ave., will host a 70th celebration for the pastor, the Rev. George H. Barnes Sr., and revival at 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, Oct. 8-10. The guest speaker will be the Rev. T.C. Raven of Inspired Body of Christ Bible Church at Chicago and evangelistic coordinator for the National Trusted Partners for Christ.


First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will conduct fall revival on these dates at 7 p.m. with the following speakers — Monday, Oct. 7: the Rev. Aaron Barnes, pastor of New Home Missionary Baptist Church; Tuesday, Oct. 8: the Rev. Jerry Hayes, pastor of Old Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church; and Wednesday, the Rev. Willie Rogers of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Monticello.


Special events


St. Luke AME Church, 9908 Princeton Pike, will celebrate family and friends day at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6. The guest speaker will be Monica Bates Talbert, a member of Eighth Street Baptist Church at North Little Rock and a former member of St. Luke.


Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, 1200 W. Eighth Ave., will host a Celebration of Love for Shirley Sharpe at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6. Sharpe has been the chairwoman of the ministry’s culinary department for more than 40 years.


Grace & Mercy Missionary Baptist Church, 5103 W. Malcomb Ave., will hold an Evening of Elegance for the pastor and wife, the Rev. Joshua and Janelta Pickett, at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4. Mulberry Grove Baptist Church at Altheimer will observe Black and Gold Day at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6. The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s students, staff and alumni are invited to attend.


St. Andrew Missionary Baptist Church, 5810 W. Malcomb St., is preparing for its 160th anniversary/homecoming. Activities will kick off Saturday, Oct. 12, from 12:30 to 3 p.m. as the Corvette Brothers of Pine Bluff host a free cookout and other activities.


La Renee Ministries Inc. will host the “Dinner Date with Jesus” dinner and movie at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at Upper Room Christian Church, 1100 S. New Community Church, 321 N. Birch St., will host its youth program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6. The speaker will be Shajayveon Winston, a minister at Living Word Baptist Church. Guests will also include Keenon Coleman, a gospel music artist and local minister of music.
