Ann Johnston will celebrate her 100th birthday Friday, Oct. 4, according to a news release.


Johnston was born Oct. 4, 1919, the daughter of Horace Johnston and Annie Duncan Johnston. She was raised and educated at Hampton.


She graduated from Henderson State University and taught youth at Hampton and Camden for eight and a half years, according to the release.


Johnston retired in 1980 from the Pine Bluff Arsenal. An avid bowler, Johnston also enjoyed reading and playing cards.


“She is a faithful and devout Christian, one who loves her Savior so dearly. She is a member of First United Methodist Church of Pine Bluff, AR,” according to the release.
