The Pine Bluff Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. will celebrate its 75th anniversary with a “Red Diamond” Gala. The event will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Pine Bluff Convention Center.


The formal event will include dinner and live entertainment, according to the Stuff in the Bluff website.


“The chapter was chartered as Beta Phi Sigma on Dec. 1, 1944, by seven outstanding women who had a commitment to Sisterhood, Scholarship, and Service and wanted to give back to the local community,” according to a spokesman.


Charter members were Gladys Alley, Dorothy Burkett, Renette Doggett, Wilma Knowles Edwards, Bessie Jordan, Katie J. Pierre, and Willie Thomas.


The community can support the sorority by being an event or table sponsor, purchasing an ad, or by purchasing individual tickets for the event. The sponsorship and ad deadline is Oct. 12. Individual tickets are $75 and can be purchased through Nov. 18, 2019.


Sponsorship Levels include Diamond - $750 or more; Silver - $500-$749; Crimson - $250-$499; Table Sponsor (8 Tickets) - $500. Advertisements: Full Page - $150; Half Page - $80; Quarter Page - $50.
