Janis F. Kearney, author, publisher and diarist to President Bill Clinton, will conduct a workshop on memoir writing at Helena.

Kearney will lead the workshop, “Memoir Writing Workshop: First Draft – Chapter One,” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Delta Cultural Center at Helena. Tickets are $15 and must be purchased by Friday, Nov. 1, according to a news release.

A native of Gould, Kearney is also a journalist and instructor. She was inducted into the Arkansas Writers Hall of Fame in 2016. Her workshop will include writing tips and techniques and give writers the opportunity to bring draft manuscripts for review and recommendations. Kearney will provide handouts and resource guides for writers, according to the release.

Kearney served eight years in the Clinton Presidency as a White House media affairs specialist, then as the director of public communications for the U.S. Small Business Administration. She served the last five years of Clinton’s presidency as the personal diarist to President Clinton.

The author of several books, she also founded Writing our World Publishing Co., according to the release.

Morning refreshments, lunch and dessert will be provided. Participants who need support for accessibility, including sight, hearing and food, should contact the staff at the Delta Cultural Center.
