The Friendship District Ladies’ Auxiliary met Oct. 10 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church at Rison.


Mildred Carter presided over the meeting which was opened with a song, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms, and prayer by Sluggo Norris, according to a news release.


The welcome was given by Myra Puckett of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and response by Mildred Carter of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Dumas.


The prayer requests included Wanda Valentine, Lynn Shots and his wife, James and Linda Calhoun, South Side Church of Star City and Bethlehem Church.


A skit entitled “Faith for Sale” was given by Rita Shirey, Tabitha Herrington and Debbie Leopard. Praise and Thanksgiving was given by Judy Piper of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, according to a news release.


The next meeting will be held Jan. 9, 2020, at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church.


Business was conducted by Mildred Carter to replace vice president Janet Marlar due to her moving out of the district. Donna Collins was nominated and elected to vice president.


Roll call was conducted by Barbara Curry. Seven auxiliaries, 28 women and two pastors were present for a total of 30. The offering was $338 and was allotted to Yorily Ormeno, missionary to Peru.


The speaker, Sluggo Norris of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, was introduced by Julius Carter. His message on marriage was taken from Genesis 24:15-28.


After a closing prayer and blessing on the food by Carter, participants went to the fellowship hall for soup, cornbread, sandwiches and an assortment of deserts.
