Pine Bluff Police on Friday announced that two suspects were in custody in connection with the slaying of Richard Ratliff on Monday.

29 year old Marlo Carter and 29 year old Jameisha McClain, both from Pine Bluff were taken into custody Thursday night and taken to the adult detention center where they are being held on probable cause of capital murder.

According to a police report, officers were sent to 2202 W. 10th Ave., after a medical call was received reporting that a man was in a bathtub bleeding. When they arrived, Emergency Ambulance Service personnel were already on the scene and reported that the man, later identified as Ratliff, 69, was deceased.

Deputy Coroner Eric Belcher pronounced Ratliff dead at the scene and the body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office at Little Rock for an autopsy.

Carter and McClain are expected to appear in district court Monday for a probable cause hearing.

This was the 26th homicide of the year inside the Pine Bluff city limits.
