Donald Hatchett has announced his intention to seek re-election to the Pine Bluff City Council’s Third Ward. Hatchett was elected to his first term in 2016, defeating then council member Glen Brown Sr. Brown has announced he will challenge Hatchett in the March Democratic primary.

Hatchett graduated from the University of Arkansas and later attended the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) where he completed a three year program in Community and Economic Development. He has received extensive training and certifications in economic and community development programs of business attraction, retention and expansion from UCA Economic Development Institute and UALR’s Institute for Economic Advancement.

He retired from Entergy, Arkansas after more than 30 years of work experience in areas of Customer Service and Account Management. Hatchett is a member of the Pine Bluff Rotary Club. His former Board and Commission affiliations include the United Way Jefferson County Board of Directors, Pine Bluff / Jefferson County Single Parent Scholarship, Pine Bluff Parks and Recreation Commission, Pine Bluff Clean and Beautiful Commission and the Pine Bluff Boys and Girls Club. He is a graduate of Leadership Pine Bluff.

Hatchett’s top priority on the city council has been promoting “Better Government for a Better Pine Bluff.” He does so by serving as Chairman of Public Health & Welfare which includes codes enforcement, transit and cemetery department. He is also a member of Community Development & Traffic and Aviation Committees. Hatchett has been very engaged with the neighborhood groups in the Third Ward.

The primary elections will be held March 3, 2020.
