Eleven students in the University of Arkansas at Monticello’s Beef Production class recently received their Beef Quality Assurance certifications, according to a news release.
The event marked the first certification class taught by Animal Science Associate Professor Rocky Lindsey. A class for the general public beef producers will be taught Jan. 23, 2020, at UAM.
“The class will help producers become more aware of how to grow beef in a safe and humane environment,” according to the release. “The BQA class has evolved into best practices on record keeping and protecting herd health. According to the BQA website, when better quality cows leave the farm and reach the market place, the producer, packer and consumer all benefit.”
Class participants included Adam Montgomery, Jon Lacotts, Austin Thomas, Garrett Reynolds, Joseph Moore, Garrett Martin, Madelyn Hagner, Rose Mencer, Lakelan Shourd, Jorge Mondragon, and Jon C. Adair.
