The Southeast Arkansas “Thanks For Giving 2019: An Evening of Vesper Glory” Concert and Community Awards will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17.

The event will be held in the auditorium at the Dumas New Tech High School, according to a news release.

The concert will feature LeTitia Owens, a recording artist, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Vesper Choir, directed by Jerron Liddell, and Dumas School choirs, led by D.C. Miles. Tickets are $20.

Owens is founder of Where Are You Now Outreach, a program for the homeless in Dallas, Texas. The event will also be a first for the Dumas choirs to perform with the UAPB choir, according to the release.

“The annual ‘Thanks For Giving’ celebration says ‘thanks for giving’ to the people who have given much of themselves ‘all year long’ (and longer) in so many meaningful ways. Awards have been presented over the past 10 years,” according to the release. “The event is about the community coming together to kick off Thanksgiving, giving love and preparing to head into the holidays with great fellowshipping and networking.”

Proceeds from the event will benefit aspiring artists and low-income residents across the Delta who are looking for new career pathways and the DAT—C location coming to The Legacy Center in West Dumas. The program is a part of the REDI (Rural Economic Development Innovation) grant that is helping to bring new opportunities through technology, workforce and economic development, according to the release.

Attendance at the celebration can also help support Desha County’s Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program.

Individuals can purchase a “Thanks for Giving” concert ticket for $20, which includes a reserved ticket to the event. An additional $5 donation can also support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library launch in Desha County. These funds will stay in Desha County to provide books to children, ages 0-5, according to the release.
