A Jefferson County man was arrested Monday on a drug related charge after White Hall Police questioned him on an unrelated matter.
Larry Williams, 36, and a female who was not identified were at Hunter’s Refuge at 7013 Dollarway Road when store personnel contacted police and said the two were trying to return stolen items for a refund.
White Hall Officer Clayton Cantrell reported that before an officer spoke to Williams, the officer saw Williams appearing to put something under the passenger side wheel well of a vehicle.
A records check with the Arkansas Crime Information Center/National Crime Information Center showed that Williams was on parole under active supervision and had a search warrant waiver on file. When he was searched, officers found a small baggie containing a crystal-like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine. A second small baggie containing suspected methamphetamine was found behind the front passenger tire.
On Wednesday, Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $5,000 bond for Williams after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with possession of a controlled substance.
The suspected drugs will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for analysis.
