HYPE Communities Inc. recently held a Month of Service and taught youth that they can be an asset to the Pine Bluff community by looking for ways they can be of service. HYPE is a local youth services non-profit agency, according to a news release.

The program focused on several projects engaging the children, which included a visit with residents of The Villages of General Baptist East Nursing Home, serving Thanksgiving meals to the community, a cleanup at the Martin Luther King Jr. Park, and volunteering at the local animal shelter.

HYPE is now in the middle of its fall mentorship initiative, but offers two additional components — a summer camp and a Lunch Buddies program which collaborates with families and schools to offer academic support to youth, according to the news release.

All activities are free and include etiquette training, community resource trips, field trips, mentorship, youth summits, educational programs and leadership development. The program offers services to children ages 5-18.
