Lt. Col. Lloyd William “Bill” Patrick, USMC (Ret.) age 72, of Rison went to be with his Lord on Thursday, December 19, 2019. He was born on July 25, 1947 in Compton, California, to the late Lloyd Patrick and Margaret Callaway Haymond. Bill was a 1965 graduate of Rison High School. After his high school graduation, he attended Hines Jr. College. In 1973, he received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He went on to obtain his Master’s from Mississippi State University in 1985. Bill was a member of Phi Sigma Alpha Fraternity. He served eight years active duty in the United States Marine Corps and twenty years in the Reserves. He was a NATO Liaison and was a Vietnam veteran. When Bill retired, he was a supervisor for the United States Department of Agriculture. Even when he was away, Rison, Arkansas was always home. He was a member of the Rison Booster Club and loved his Rison Wildcats. Bill was an avid runner, great ballroom dancer, and enjoyed antique cars and tractors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rita Jorge.
Left to cherish his memory is the love of his life, Theresa Morgan Carter Patrick; step-children, Tracie Futrell of Farmington, Mike Brent Carter of Rowell, Nick (Morgan) Carter of Sheridan, Ryan Carter of Rye; brothers, Martin Haymond of Manchester, TN, Jeffrey Haymond of Spring Valley, OH; brother-in-law, Vernon Jorge; nephew, James Jorge of Austin, TX; a special aunt, Mildred Morgan; numerous cousins that loved him dearly and his rescue dogs.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 23, 2019 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison, with visitation prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Prosperity Cemetery.
