Morris Chapel slates Watch Meeting


Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will present Watch Meeting Services at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31. The speaker will be the pastor, the Rev. Joseph Valliant Jr.


Reynolds Chapel plans Watch Service


Reynolds Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 706 S. Cypress St., and the pastor, the Rev. Andrew Williams, will present the Watch Meeting at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31. Special guests will be the Rev. Robert Thomas, pastor of Christian Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, and his congregation. Service will include testimonies, prayers and songs of praise as participants remember the Emancipation Proclamation from slavery, a spokesman said.


Ivy Center for Education sets events


Ivy Center for Education announces upcoming events.


Tuesday, Jan. 14, from 6-7 p.m. — Club Scrub/Future Medical Professionals will meet with Renisha Ward and Future Engineers will meet with Sederick Rice, Ph.D, at Faith Presbyterian Church, 913 University Drive.


Monday, Jan. 20 — Ivy Center youth will participate in MLK activities.


Tuesday, Jan. 21, from 6-7 p.m. — Ivy Center students will meet at Faith Presbyterian Church for the annual Dr. Martin L. King Jr. Quiz Bowl Competition. Prizes will be awarded to the winners. Also, final plans will be made for the annual Arkansas Field Studies trip to Little Rock.


Saturday, Jan. 25 — Ivy Center’s annual Field Studies Trip will take students on tours to Heifer International, Clinton Presidential Library and the Museum of Discovery.


Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 6-7 p.m. — Club Scrub/Future Medical Professionals will meet with Renisha Ward and Future Engineers will meet with Sederick Rice, Ph.D, at Faith Presbyterian Church.
