Betty Jean Wade

Mrs. Betty Jean Wade, 81, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2019.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at Greater Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church, Pine Bluff, AR. Funeral service will be 11.00 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at Greater Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church by Rev. Chestine Sims, Jr.

Interment will be in Forrest Lawn Cemetery by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.

Edgar Charles

Edgar E.C. Charles, 89, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, was born October 20, 1930, and passed away peacefully December 24, 2019, surrounded by his family.

He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was baptized and united with the New Salem MBC.

Early in life he moved to Milwaukee, WI, and later to Los Angeles, CA, where he met and married the Love of his life for over 30 years, Dorothy Charles, who he joins in death.

E.C. observed his church Covent and was ordained as a deacon in California and carried out those duties even upon retirement and moving to Las Vegas, NV. Where he united with Holy Cross Solid Rock MBC, where he served faithfully until he returned to Arkansas.

E.C. was the owner and operator of Charles Services and specialized in Professional Lawn Care for over 30 years.

He is survived by his daughters, Betty Jean Wallace, Eveline Cobbs-Miller, and Marguerite Walker, son; Anthony Charles, grandson (caregiver); Timothy Wallace, 11 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 29, 2019, at 2:30 P.M. at the New Salem MBC with Rev. Clark Thomas officiating and burial will be in the New Salem Cemetery.

Public visitation and family hour will be Saturday, December 28, 2019, from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Perry Funeral Home Chapel. Service by Perry Funeral Home.

Jerald Norton

Jerald Franklin Norton Sr., age 92, of Pine Bluff died on Friday, December 27, 2019. He was born October 24, 1927 near Calmer, Arkansas, to Stewart and Macel Huselton Norton. He graduated from Woodlawn High School. He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Helena during the Korean War.

Mr. Norton worked for List Laundry and as a route salesman for Dean’s Milk for over twenty-five years. He also worked for Glover-Taylor Enterprises before retiring. He was a faithful member of First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff.

On February 7, 1953, he married Betty Jane Campbell. She preceded him in death on March 11, 2005. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Billy James Norton.

Survivors include two sons, Jerald Franklin Norton, Jr. of Bentonville and Richard Earl Norton of Pine Bluff; brothers, Bob Norton and wife, Melda of Pine Bluff, Mike Norton of Little Rock and a sister-in-law, Marie Norton of Bridge City, Texas.

Mr. Norton enjoyed working in his garden and giving the extra flowers and vegetables to family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 29, 2019 at First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, with a visitation prior to the service, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Pine Bluff.

Pallbearers are Leon Slaughter, Johnny Johnson, Mike Robertson, Marion Glover, Larry Procell, Willie Greeson and honorary pallbearer, Dewayne Wright. Memorials can be made to First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 1500 West 73rd Ave., Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71603.

Kenneth Wall

Kenneth Charles Wall, age 57, of White Hall, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2019.

Born January 22, 1962 at Berwyn, IL, he was a son of Vern Wall of White Hall and the late Frieda LaVerne Roberts Wall.

In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Allen Wall, Sr.; and a sister, Pamela Page.

In addition to his father, he is survived by a sister, Debra Watson.

The family will hold private services. Arrangements are by Robinson & Fuller White Hall Funeral Chapel.

Benjamin Gullett

Benjamin Mack Gullett, 77, of White Hall, went to be with the Lord on the most holy of days, December 25, 2019. He was the son of the late Fabron and Juanita (Hendrickson) Gullett.

Ben, his youngest daughter, Carrie, and the light of his life, twin granddaughters Izzy and Arabella and grandson Ryan Gullett (US Army), resided in White Hall.

Ben was a gentle and kind man, who loved the Lord and enjoyed sports, politics, gardening and animals. He will always be remembered for his love of family, beautiful gardening and boisterous laughter.

He is survived by three children, Cherie Hays (CA), Fabron Gullett II (Pine Bluff), and Carrie Gullett (Pine Bluff); ten grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sister, Shirley Brown (Pine Bluff).

Ben was born in Inglewood, CA and reared and educated in Hobart, Indiana, before moving to Arkansas, where he has lived for the past 40+ years. He was a pipe fitter.
