The Pine Bluff Regional Chamber of Commerce announced that Steven Bloomberg will be the keynote speaker for the Chamber’s 2020 Annual Dinner. Bloomberg is president at Southeast Arkansas College.

The dinner will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at the Pine Bluff Country Club.

Bloomberg began his tenure at SEARK Jan. 3, 2018. Under his leadership, SEARK has opened a food pantry and career closet, developed a new five-year strategic plan, lowered the cost of attendance through a textbook agreement with Cengage Unlimited, opened a new Health and Wellness Facility (SEARK@Seabrook), and launched a new strategic marketing plan with the tagline “Make Your Mark at SEARK,” according to a news release.

SEARK debuted a new website Dec. 1, 2019, and will add new degree programs in the fall 2020 semester in hospitality and resort management and cyber security.

As a part of the college’s new growth strategy, SEARK is opening extension sites at Kingsland in the spring of 2020 and Redfield later in 2020.

Prior to his tenure at SEARK, Bloomberg was most recently the executive vice president at Oklahoma City Community College at Oklahoma City, Okla. He is a certified economic developer and served as the chief executive officer of the Borger, Texas, Economic Development Corporation (BEDC).

“While at the BEDC, Bloomberg successfully landed a $110 million manufacturing facility in competition with three domestic and two foreign sites. Under Bloomberg’s leadership, the BEDC became the first public economic development corporation in Texas to utilize a community advisory panel (CAP) for input into economic development initiatives,” according to the news release.

Previously, Bloomberg was the executive director of continuing education and off-campus programs at Florida Gulf Coast University at Fort Myers, Florida; dean of workforce education at Frank Phillips College at Borger, Texas; and workforce education program manager at Cerro Coso Community College at Ridgecrest, Calif.

He has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration degree from the University of LaVerne in Laverne, Calif.; a Master of Education degree from West Texas A & M University, and is currently authoring his doctoral dissertation with the American College of Education.

“As a member organization committed to bettering the economic and social aspects of the area, the Annual Dinner allows Chamber staff the opportunity to reflect and report on the previous year’s progress while sharing goals and opportunities for the year ahead.

“It will be an evening dedicated to celebrating, networking, and promoting Chamber members — all while enjoying good food and drinks in a relaxing business-casual atmosphere,” according to the release.

The Chamber enhanced the dinner sponsorship packages with several value-added benefits, including more promotional and advertising opportunities for businesses and organizations. Planning is underway and limited sponsorships are available.

Dinner tickets are $60 per person or $600 for tables of eight people. For details or sponsorships, call Lynette Bloomberg at the Chamber, 870-535-0110.
