The Southeast Arkansas Evening with the Artists will be held to recognize artists from the 2019 Upstream Art project who painted storm drain murals for Pine Bluff and White Hall.
The event will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at the Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, according to Christine L. Cooley, Jefferson County Extension Agent - Stormwater.
“Please join us for an evening of art and and watershed education as we recognize the 2019 Drain Smart Upstream Art artists,” a spokesman said in the news release. “This event is about the artists, their work, and how they are creating water quality awareness, stimulating dialogue, and helping the citizens of Jefferson County see the environment around them in a whole new light.”
The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture and Mayor Shirley Washington will be recognizing the artists.
Those interested in painting murals for the 2020 stormwater project should apply by Aug. 21. Application packages and details are available at the Jefferson County Cooperative Extension Office, 500 Idaho St., Pine Bluff, or by contacting Christine Cooley at firstname.lastname@example.org or 870-543-1033.
