The Rev. Sidney Milton Sr. of Little Rock is the newly elected pastor for Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 W. Pullen St., at Pine Bluff. The pastor-elect will deliver his first sermon at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 2.
Milton received his high school diploma from Hall High School at Little Rock and a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Western Governors University at Salt Lake City, Utah. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in business administration from Western, according to a news release.
He has more than 11 years of experience in the ministry and is the former executive pastor of ministries for Longley Baptist Church at Little Rock.
Milton has served as a youth pastor and implemented effective youth programs that included fellowship, worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, evangelism, ministry and mission opportunities, according to the release.
Milton has served as state youth minister for the Consolidated Missionary Baptist State Convention of Arkansas, where he is currently the treasurer.
He has also been assistant treasurer for Union District Baptist Association at Little Rock; and college minister, St. Paul AME Church at Arkadelphia.
He has been a keynote speaker on many occasions on state and national levels.
“Rev. Milton has the ability to prepare biblically sound, uplifting sermons that aim to reach the lost and encourage the saved,” according to the release. “He is committed to shepherding individuals to Christ, engaging the community in missionary work, community outreach and developing strategies to sustain long-term goals.”
He is married to Simone Simmons Milton, and they have two children, Sidney D. Milton Jr and Skylen Simone Milton.
