The Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Library System announces upcoming programs:
ALTHEIMER BRANCH LIBRARY
Heart Health — Date: Tuesday, Feb. 11, Time: 6-7 p.m., Location: Library’s Meeting Room. “February is heart health month and the perfect time to learn if you’re at risk of heart disease and the steps you need to take to remain healthy,” according to a news release. The community is invited to join the event with special guest, Nicole Bates, from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) South Central Center on Aging. Snacks will be provided.
Line Dancing — Date: Tuesday, Feb. 25. Time: 6-7 p.m., Location: Library’s Meeting Room. Line Dancing Classes will be held every 4th Tuesday of the month.

Teen Craft Programs:
DIY Earring Holder — Date: Tuesday, Feb. 11, Time: 3:30-5:30 p.m., Location: 2nd Floor Meeting Room. Youth 12-18 years old will use frames, paint, glitter, accessories, and chicken wire to make DIY earring holders.
Teen Creative Writing Class — Date: Tuesday, Feb, 18, 3:30-5:30 p.m., Location: 2nd Floor Meeting Room. Youth 12-18 years old are welcome to come and learn about creative writing. Have an idea for a story or poem but don’t know where to start. The library can help. Bring a notebook, something to write with, and an idea.
Adult Programs at the Main Library:
Quilting Classes — Dates: Mondays, Feb. 10 and 24, Time: 1-3 p.m., Location: 2nd Floor Meeting Room. “Come learn all about quilting. Beginners are welcome. Simply bring your supplies, fabric, and ideas,” according to the release.
Computer Classes — Dates: Tuesdays, Feb. 11, 18, and 25, Time: 1-3 p.m., Location: 2nd Floor Meeting Room. Patrons are invited to come learn about computers from LeNelle Thompson, a Southeast Arkansas College professor. “Bring a laptop, tablet, or notebook and pencil, and questions. Ms. Thompson will take you through basic computer usage and internet navigation,” according to the release.
Special Adult Craft — Date: Thursday, Feb. 6, Time: 4:30-5:30 p.m., Location: 2nd Floor Meeting Room. Patrons will use spray adhesive, glitter, and stickers to decorate a Mason jar.
Phyllis Hodges Book Signing — Date: Saturday, Feb. 8, Time: 10 a.m. to noon, Location: 2nd Floor Meeting Room. “‘8 Years of Unforgettable History’ is a book of firsts. Inspired by the presidency of Barack Obama, Author Phyllis Hodges was led to assemble a book of history highlighting some of Arkansas’ trailblazers. The list of firsts includes people of all backgrounds and parallels the important works of President Obama. From education, health, and beyond, this book was written to bridge the gap between literacy to experience,” according to the release.
Library Book Club Meeting — Date: Thursday, Feb. 13, Time: 5-6 p.m., Location: 2nd Floor Meeting Room. Everyone invited to come and join in the book discussions.
