ANNIVERSARIES


• OAK GROVE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, U.S. 425 South/5812 McGaughy Road, will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Charles Helloms Jr. and Freddie Helloms, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16. The guest speaker will be the Rev. James Murry, pastor of Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church. Guests will also include the Rev. Jerry Hayes, pastor of Old Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church.


• UNION HOPEWELL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 1121 Persimmon St., will celebrate the sixth anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Antonio Gayden Sr. and Loretta Gayden, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Clifton A. Conley, pastor of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church at Little Rock.


BLACK HISTORY


• UNITY TEMPLE CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST, 4401 W. Sixth Ave., will host its Black History program at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16. Pine Bluff Mayor Shirley Washington will be the guest speaker.


• NEW COMMUNITY CHURCH, 321 N. Birch St., will commemorate Black History Month with a dramatic presentation at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16. New Community’s pastor/apostle, Patrick Lockett, will also preach.


• MT. CARMEL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 900 Grant St., will host the “Going Back To Our Heritage” Commemorating Black History program at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16. Musical guests will include Betty Riley, Faith of Harmony, Soul Revivals, Mighty Gospelettes, Men In Christ and Spiritualettes. The coordinator is Debra Canagan.


• NEW UNITED MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 5601 Cheatham St., will hold its annual Black History program and exhibit at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 23.


• BETHLEHEM WORSHIP CENTER CHURCH at Dumas will sponsor its Black History Program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23. There will be presentations by the drama ministry and youth department. The guest speaker will be Fitzgerald Hill, EdD, of New Life Church at Bryant, and former president of Arkansas Baptist College. Hill became the executive director of the college’s foundation and the Scott Ford Center for Entrepreneurship and Community Development. He also supplies leadership for the Derek Oliver Research Institute for the Prevention of Black on Black Violence, among numerous community ventures, according to a news release.


• TIMOTHY CHAPEL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 1304 S. Apple St., will observe Black History Month during worship services at 11 a.m. each Sunday through Feb. 23. The pastor, the Rev. Woodrow Jackson Jr., will preach. The youth choir will sing on the last Sunday.


• NEW HOPE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH at Moscow will present its Black History program at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16.


CONCERTS


• MT. ZION MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH at Altheimer will host the musical benefit for Clinton Smith and Mamie Grant and family at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15. The event is sponsored by the Southeast Arkansas Community Mass Choir.


• SOUTHSIDE SINGING CENTER, 5420 W. 15th Ave., will host a quartet musical at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17. Gospel singers will include Christland, Faith of Harmony, Mighty Gospelletts and Shining Stars.


SPECIAL EVENTS


• BETHLEHEM WORSHIP CENTER CHURCH at Dumas will present its South Arkansas District Meeting. At 7 p.m. Feb. 19, the District A.I.M. meeting will feature Elder Christopher Collins of BWC as the speaker. At 7 p.m. Feb. 20, the church will honor the speaker and district missionary, Linda Jones. At 7 p.m. Feb. 21, the honoree and speaker will be the district Superintendent Timothy Jones.


• BARNETT CHAPEL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 1321 N. Birch St., will present its annual mission program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Micheal Williams, pastor of Family Time Baptist Church & Ministries. Guests will also include Kay McRae of Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church.


• FIRST MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 4500 Faucett Road, will hold its installation of officers for 2020 during worship service at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16.


• ST. JOHN AME CHURCH, 1117 W. Pullen Ave., will provide free meals through the “Soul Food Feeding Program for the Mind, Body and Spirit.” Lunch on Saturdays will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Breakfast on Sundays begin at 9 a.m.


• FIRST MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 4500 Faucett Road, will host the City Wide Mission at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17.


• UNITY CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP CHURCH, 2712 S. Bay St., will host the Rev. Alexander Price of Full Circle 360 as the preacher during worship services at 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16.


• ONE PINE BLUFF PRAYING TOGETHER services will be held for people to gather and pray for the growth and prosperity of the city.
