The Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Library System will host a variety of programs in March, according to a news release.


ALTHEIMER BRANCH LIBRARY –


Children programs:


Date: Wednesday, March 25; Time: 2-3 p.m.; All materials will be provided, and each participant will have a chance to sample a food item prepared with Charlie Cart.


Spring Break Activities:


Date: Monday, March 23 through Friday, March 27; Time: Regular Library Hours. Children are welcome to come and play board games. Scrabble, Jr. Connect 4, Sorry, etc. Computers and a Playstation 4 Gaming System will also be available to use.

Adult programs:


Learn How to Decoupage — Date: Tuesday, March 10; Time: 6-7 p.m.; Location: Meeting Room. Join Melony Darrough as she shows participants how to preserve an old picture, recipe, or something else to have for generations by the process of decoupage. Don’t forget to bring a small picture of anything and learn this DIY project.


Kidney Disease Awareness Presentation — Date: Tuesday, March 24; Time: 6-6:30 p.m.; Location: Meeting Room. March is National Kidney Month in the United States and awareness of kidney disease and the importance of prevention and early detection is vital to our health. Join the library with partners, UAMS South Central Center on Aging, as they share information on the prevention of kidney disease.


Line Dancing Class — Date: Tuesday, March 24; Time: 6-7 p.m. Location: Meeting Room. Line Dancing Classes will be held every 4th Tuesday of the month.

Story Time & Crafts with STEAM Activities for Preschool are held every Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m.

TEEN programs (ages 12-18):


Leprechaun Gold Necklace — Date: Tuesday, March 10; Time: 3:30-5:30 p.m.; Location: 2nd Floor Meeting Room. Teens can make a leprechaun’s “gold” bottle necklace.


DIY Earring Holder Craft Class — Date: Saturday, March 28; Time: 11:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m.; Location: 2nd Floor Meeting Room.; Teen patrons will use frames, paint, glitter, accessories, and chicken wire to make DIY earring holders.


Library Raffle (for Teens and Adults) — Date: Monday, March 2 - Tuesday, March 17; Time: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Location: Main Library. Adults and teens look throughout the main floor of the library for little leprechauns. Each leprechaun has a question. Write the answer to that question and fill out your name and phone number, then put the slip into our raffle. One person will win the prize at the end of the rainbow.

Quilting Classes — Date: Monday, March 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30; Time: 1-3 p.m.; Location: 2nd Floor Meeting Room. Come learn all about quilting. Beginners welcomed. Simply bring your supplies, fabric, and ideas.


Computer 101 Classes — Date: Tuesday, March 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31; Time: 1-3 p.m.; Location: Circulation Floor. Come learn about computers from Southeast Arkansas College Professor LeNelle Thompson. Bring a laptop, tablet, or notebook and pencil, and questions. Thompson will take you through basic computer usage and internet navigation.


Four-Leaf Clover Paper Art — Date: Tuesday, March 3; Time: 3:30-5:30 p.m. Location: 2nd Floor Meeting Room. Patrons will paint a canvas green then use hearts punched from paper to make four-leaf clovers. They will glue these clovers to the canvas.


Book Club Meeting —Date: Thursday, March 12 and 26; Time: 5-6 p.m.; Location: 2nd Floor Meeting Room. “Come see what book we will be reading and discussing in March. You do NOT have to purchase a book to be a member of the book club,” a spokeswoman said.
