Oakland Park at Hot Springs was the destination recently for Relyance Bank Destination Club. The group traveled to the Spa City on a cold, sunny day to try their luck at the track. Bobby Huckaby was the winner of the new Destination Club cap and Billy Kittler won the T-shirt, according to a news release.
Cindy Cullins, Destination Club director, arranged reserved seating in the Carousel Room for the group, where a buffet was available from the time they arrived until 4 p.m.
The menu consisted of the chef’s famous hand-carved corned beef, baked fish, Chicken Marsala and lasagna. Other favorites included Italian Wedding soup, a variety of salads and for dessert, tiramisu and the specialty, bread pudding, according to a news release.
“Everyone had a great day cheering for his or her favorite horses and there were many smiling faces when they left the track at the end of the day, especially on the faces of the lucky winners,” according to the release.
Participants attending the races were Betty Bradshaw, Bobby Huckaby, Tenie Bullard, Elaine and Tommy Dial, Billy Kittler, Aleta Martin, Judy and Gordon Reese, Linda and Buddy Smith, Jo Stanfield, Kandy Moore, Pat Bethea, Kim Coker, Jackie Henderson and Bob Barringer, Wanda and Buddy Sturdivant, Rose Akenhead, Sandra Jamison, Lula Gray and Amanda Menotti.
Cullins escorted the group and reminded them that there were still a few seats left on the Canadian Island Coach Tour and two spaces left on the once in a lifetime, Ultimate Scandinavian Capitals Cruise, according to the release.
