Several Pine Bluff area organizations are cancelling events or closing offices because of concerns over the coronavirus.


NAACP cancels 100th celebration


The Pine Bluff Branch of the National Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) cancelled its 100th anniversary celebration because of COVID-19 coronavirus. The event was planned for March 28 at Bethany Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. It will be rescheduled at a later date, according to a spokeswoman.


Advertising & Promotion cancels meetings


The Pine Bluff Advertising and Promotion Commission meetings are cancelled for March. The finance committee meeting had been scheduled for March 23 and the regular commission meeting was scheduled for March 25. Due to the recent COVID 19 restrictions placed upon the public, it is necessary to cancel the meetings, a spokesman said. Details: 870-534-2121.


Civic Auditorium panel won’t meet


The Civic Auditorium Complex Commission cancelled its regular meeting that was scheduled for March 24. Due to the circumstances of the coronavirus, the agency is taking precautions necessary to keep everyone healthy, according to a spokesman.


Hospital auxiliary cancels Dumas event


Delta Memorial Hospital Auxiliary at Dumas cancelled “The Sound of Music” Spring Gospel fund-raising event. The program had been planned on March 27 at the Dumas Community Center.
