New Life Church decided to partner up with the Pine Bluff School District as a satellite site for "Grab and Go" meals.
New Life Church mission values include believing in life-giving relationships and believing the church is stronger when everyone serves.
During this time when COVID-19 has altered the lives of so many families resulting to school closures, there was still an essential need our families needed. Many students around the community rely on schools to provide free or reduced meals.
New Life Church decided to partner up with the Pine Bluff School District as a satellite site for "Grab and Go" meals. Located at 2801 S. Olive St. in the Jefferson Square Shopping Center, Youth Pastor Michael Heisler says an average of 50 kids come daily to get a meal.
“Our pastor Matt Mosler worked it out with the school district so that our location here at New Life Church would be a feeding site for the youth that are not in school right now,” said Heisler.
Monday through Friday beginning at 10:45 a.m. volunteers hand out nutritious sack lunches provided by the school district.
“We started a week before spring break and now after spring break we are back at it,” said Heisler.
Travis Whitehead, a 1st-grader at Edgewood Elementary made it just in time to receive his meal.
New Life Church High School Pastor Jawon Bradley, a 2013 graduate of Pine Bluff High School who also volunteers for the feeding program, said they usually get a rush as soon as they open with hardly anything left but milk.
Grab and Go meal sites will continue to provide lunch throughout the academic school year.
School sites pickups are from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 34th Elementary School, Jack Robey Junior High School and Pine Bluff High School.
Satellite Sites from 11:00 a.m. until noon includes Pine Bluff First Assembly of God West Campus at 3206 S. Hazel Street, Family Church of Pine Bluff at 2309 S. Poplar, Mt. Harmony Missionary Baptist Church at 812 East Harding and New Life Church.
