Pine Bluff Veterans Legal Clinic closing

The Pine Bluff Veterans Legal Clinic will remain closed until further notice because of precautions being taken during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Veterans may contact The Center for Arkansas Legal Services (CALS) Help Line at 1-800-950-5817. Services are available to accept applications for benefits or answer questions, according to a news release. Details: Pine Bluff Mayor’s Office, 870-730-2000, ext. 7.

Neighbor to Neighbor closing 2 days a week

Neighbor to Neighbor will be closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays until further notice. The agency will continue to provide all services on Monday, Wednesday and Friday by appointment only. Sack lunches will also be served those days from noon to 1 p.m. and will include extra food for Tuesday and Thursday. For emergency assistance, people are asked to call the Neighbor to Neighbor office at 870-534-2883.

NAACP cancels meeting

The April 9 meeting of the Pine Bluff Branch of the NAACP has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a news release.

Gould City Council won’t meet

The Gould City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, is cancelled due to COVID-19. The next meeting is set for Tuesday, May 12, at 7 p.m. at the Gould City Hall Courtroom. Meetings are open to the public, according to a news release.

Grace Temple cancels sunrise gathering

Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St., has cancelled Easter Sunrise service. Pleasant Grove cancels services; live streaming

Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1801 S. Indiana St., cancelled all church services and activities for April. The church will continue to live stream its Sunday services at 10:45 a.m. April 12, 19 and 26. The Rev. Dennis W. Wilson will preach. To see the service, visit the website:

Gethsemane church cancels event

The Jerusalem Church Gethsemane, 6205 East State Farm Road, Tucker, cancelled the Annual youth day that was scheduled for Sunday, April 19.

PB non-uniformed city staff working remotely

All non-uniformed city of Pine Bluff employees began working remotely April 6 and will do so until further notice. The goal is to stop the spread of COVID-19, according to an April 3 letter from Mayor Shirley Washington.

Jefferson County employees to work remotely

The Jefferson County Courthouse will continue to be closed and beginning Tuesday, April 7, employees will work remotely, County Judge Gerald Robinson said April 3.
