The City of White Hall in partnership with the White Hall Police Department has installed SkyCop throughout the city in an effort to discourage traffic violators and criminals. The camera system was installed last month in five different places.
“The City of White Hall is now utilizing the SkyCop camera system in various locations throughout the city,” read a post on the city’s Facebook page. “The cameras monitor traffic that may enter or exit the city.”
The post went on to say that the system would not be used for “traffic enforcement.” In response, residents flooded the post saying “thank you” for the new addition on city streets.
“The cameras are a law enforcement tool to protect our residents, businesses and visitors,” the post read.
According to its website, the mission of SkyCop is to “equip, support and educate” law enforcement agencies on ways to keep their communities safe through advancement in technology.
“We hope the cameras will discourage unsafe driving behavior, serve as a crime deterrent and supplement investigations,” said White Hall Police Department chief of police Greg Shapiro.
