Arkansas BlueCross BlueShield and Blue & You Foundation gave a total of $25,000 to United Way of Southeast Arkansas feeding agencies for COVID-19 relief, according to a news release.

Agencies receiving $5,000 checks are CASA Women’s Shelter of Pine Bluff, Salvation Army of Pine Bluff, Neighbor to Neighbor of Pine Bluff, Delta Network Food Bank of Pine Bluff, and Area Agency on Aging of Southeast Arkansas.

“The United Way of Southeast Arkansas wants to express how grateful they are to receive a generous donation of $25,000 from the wonderful people of the Arkansas Blue & You Foundation,” a spokesman said in a news release.

Each United Way partner agency was thrilled to receive the funding, the spokesman said.

After receiving their checks, each agency noted the many people that they can continue to help during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It takes leadership and a real passion for the welfare of people, and that is something Arkansas BlueCross BlueShield and Blue & You Foundation have in abundance,” the spokesman said.

Kathy Tynes, executive director of Area Agency on Aging, said she “wished she could give us all a big hug,” according to the release.

“Even though social distancing keeps all of us from expressing our thanks in tender gestures, the enthusiasm of gratitude is not diminished. People loving local and helping each other is what it is all about,” the spokesman said.
