Frances Nice


Frances A. Lewis Nice, 77, of White Hall, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 9, 2020, surrounded by her family. She was born November 25, 1942, in Pine Bluff to Hollis and Blanche Drewery Roberts. She was a homemaker and the former owner of 270 Flea Market. She was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church, where she was in the Civil Disciples senior group.


She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Dee Lewis; a son, Ricky Lewis; and a granddaughter, Amber Lewis.


Survivors include her husband, Clarence Nice, Jr.; two sons, Raymond Lewis and Shan Lewis and wife, Dee; one daughter, Annette Bryant and husband, Darrell; four grandchildren, Raymond Lewis, Jr., Rodney Lewis, Deeann Lewis, and Amy Whittle; 8 great-grandchildren plus one soon to arrive; two brothers, James Roberts and Oliver “Red” Roberts; one sister, Linda Biggs; and a number of other relatives.


Graveside services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at Rowell Cemetery with the Rev. Micah McKinley officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Robinson Fuller White Hall Funeral Chapel. Viewing will be 11:00 A.M. – 4:00 P. M. Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at Robinson Fuller White Hall Funeral Chapel.


John Motes


John Thomas Motes, co-owner and operator of George Motes AutoGroup (Pine Bluff), died peacefully at home on May 9, 2020, at the age of 60.


Thomas is survived by his wife, Julie Silver Motes; his children, Amanda Motes, Michael Motes, Mary Sabo, Marlee Coyle, Reilly Heffer, Darby Heffer, and Owen Heffer; his grandchild, Ama Boyd; his mother, Betty Henes Motes; and his siblings, Dick Motes, Libba Palozola, Cinda Motes, and Dodd Motes.


Thomas was born in Pine Bluff on May 17, 1959, to Sam Dodd Motes and Betty Motes. He attended Jefferson Prep High School in Pine Bluff and graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1983.


Thomas was a devoted father and loving husband. He enjoyed spending his winters duck hunting with his brother at their camp in Altheimer and summers boating with his family at the lake house in Hot Springs. He lived life to the fullest and brightened the lives of many others. He was extremely committed to his family and friends and a stronghold to everyone that knew him. He will be missed but never forgotten.

Billie Miller


Billie Gene Anderson Miller, 93, of Pine Bluff, passed away Monday, May 11, 2020.


She was born March 24, 1927 in Pine Bluff, daughter of Thomas Wayne and Irma Wendel Anderson.


Mrs. Miller was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and retired from Simmons First National Bank in 1989. The family cannot remember her missing a day of work because they believe she did not want anyone messing with her cash drawer.


Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William F., “Billy” Miller, Jr.; sisters, Virginia Ingle, Dorothy West and Bobby Jane Smith; and great-grandchild, Ryleigh Rae Miller.


Survivors include her sister, Jo Ann Walters; three sons, William Fred (Jamie) Miller, III, Larry Wayne Miller and Scott Anderson (Vicki) Miller; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.


A private graveside will be held Thursday at St. Joseph Cemetery with Deacon Noel F. “Bud” Bryant officiating by Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors. There will be no visitation.

Danny Woods


Mr. Danny Ray Woods, 61, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, passed away May 1, 2020. He was born November 9, 1958, to the late Mildred Woods and Tommy Golden in Portland, Arkansas.


Graveside funeral services were held on Saturday May 09, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at Montrose Community Cemetery; Montrose, Arkansas, with pastor Walter Witherspoon/Eulogist.


He leaves to cherish his memories, 2-children; Jessundrian Carlton, and Jessron Parker, 2-grandchildren; Jilauni Carlton, and Juliana Thomas, 2-sisters; Sharon Johnson (Danny), and Brenda Lacy (Willie), 2-brothers; George Stepps (Pearly), and Charles Bynum (Jacque), and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, other relatives and friends.
