Calhoun of Pine Bluff is a 1995 graduate of Pine Bluff High School and dedicated citizen of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He earned his Associate of Applied Science degree for General Technology from Southeast Arkansas College and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

Go Forward Pine Bluff received a grant from Rural LISC to support quality of life initiative giving CEO Ryan Watley an opportunity to appoint someone in that position.
“I am pleased to inform you that Mr. Tavante Calhoun has accepted an offer to administrate GFPB's Delta Festival Series of Festivals and Events,” said Watley. “Mr. Calhoun has been a jewel to GFPB from the planning stages to present day. His servant spirit and execution of planned initiatives has led us to this point.”
Calhoun of Pine Bluff is a 1995 graduate of Pine Bluff High School and dedicated citizen of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He earned his Associate of Applied Science degree for General Technology from Southeast Arkansas College and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
This lifelong member and associate minister of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church is also a 2017 graduate of Go Forward Pine Bluff Candidate Development Institute as well as a 2018 Leadership Pine Bluff graduate.
Watley states Calhoun has accepted the role that was initially articulated to him with the understanding that it may increase or decrease. His duties will involve developing, organizing, and maintaining all records for all events under the Delta Festival Series.
“We are aligning his duties to be in compliance with the grant and his compensation will be predicated on how well we can accomplish this,” said Watley. “When duties and responsibilities are not in compliance, he has agreed to continue being a volunteer.”
Calhoun is a twelve-year employee of Pinnacle Pointe Outpatient Behavioral Health Services.
He also facilitates as a member of the Southeast Arkansas College Foundation Board, Ambassadors for Christ Advisory Board, What’s Next Pine Bluff Board, Southeast Arkansas Male Chorus member, and Forward Fest Committee Chair.
“My passion to help my community along with my experience in behavioral health and customer service have given me the experience and the drive to fulfill the duties of the position of Quality of Life Coordinator,” said Calhoun. “The opportunity to serve as a volunteer for Go Forward Pine Bluff has afforded me the opportunity to help usher in the rising of a new day in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.”
Calhoun said his goals are to make Pine Bluff, Arkansas a place of destination by facilitating events that will bring visitors from all over the world to experience Pine Bluff as the hub of the Delta region.
Watley compliments Calhoun’s efforts stating his outlook on being in a position to make a difference in the community aligns with the culture of GFPB staff, board members, the 100 citizens that started the initiative and those that understand what it truly takes to bring about positive change.
“You simply cannot place an equivalent value to the difference Mr. Calhoun has and will continue to make in Pine Bluff,” said Watley. “He is a leader, team player and visionary. We are lucky to have him.”
