Lucas Blake is the Department of Engineering and Physics’ Outstanding Student for the 2019-2020 academic year at Southern Arkansas University at Magnolia.
A graduate of Ridgway Christian High School at Pine Bluff, Blake has served as a supplemental instructor in the Engineering/Physics Department for three years, according to a news release.
He completed two years in the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU). The first summer was spent working on the processing of adiabatic and non-adiabatic paper fibers. The second summer was spent at the University of Arkansas Institute for Nanoscience and Engineering.
Blake placed second in the poster presentation at the annual Arkansas IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence conference in 2019. Following graduation, he plans to work in industry then pursue an advanced degree in engineering or physics, according to the release.
