Delcenia Collins, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bennie and Lazenie Collins of Pine Bluff, earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. She graduated in May, according to a news release.


Her research focused on exploring staff experiences handling distressed students and their perceptions on job satisfaction, according to the release.


Collins received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Mississippi State University and earned her Master of Science degree in college student personnel administration from the University of Central Arkansas.


Collins is an assistant director of residence life at the University of Texas at Arlington. She has worked in the field of student affairs, specifically housing and residence life, for 10 years. Her research interests include student success and retention efforts in higher education, and exploring best practices in the field of student affairs to enhance the college student experience, according to the release.
