Early voting numbers reported

As of Friday, 1,290 people turned out during early voting at the Jefferson County Courthouse. Daily totals were:

Tuesday --357

Wednesday -- 302

Thursday -- 310

Friday -- 321

Early voting for the March 5 Primary Election will continue weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the courthouse. On Saturdays, early voting will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. On the last day of early voting, ballots can be cast from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 4. On March 5, voting is held at the polls.

Civic meeting canceled

The Civic Auditorium Complex Commission meeting that was scheduled for Feb. 27 has been cancelled. The CACC meeting will be rescheduled for noon March 6, according to a news release. Details: Pine Bluff Convention Center, (870) 536-7600.

Severe Weather Awareness Week set

The National Weather Service Forecast Office in Little Rock will observe Feb. 25 through March 2 as Arkansas' Severe Weather Awareness Week.

This annual event is aimed at increasing public awareness about the dangers of severe weather and encouraging people to take steps to protect themselves and their property, according to a news release.

During the week-long event, the National Weather Service will be covering various aspects of thunderstorm hazards that can cause property damage or place people in danger. Each day will focus on a different topic.

The office will be providing daily updates and tips on their website and social media channels throughout the week.

Locals graduate at UA's Fulbright College

Local students recently graduated from the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, according to a news release.

Summer Bassford of Pine Bluff earned a Bachelor of Science in anthropology.

Marcus Miller of Warren earned a Bachelor of Art in communication.

Sarah Silliman of Sheridan earned a Bachelor of Art in English.

Ahmad Pace of Pine Bluff earned a Bachelor of Art in political science.

These students joined more than 300 undergraduates who earned bachelor's degrees in Fulbright College and who were celebrated Dec. 16 at commencement ceremonies in Bud Walton Arena.
