An 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the Oct. 24 on-campus shooting following a bonfire at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff that injured a juvenile and 18-year-old UAPB freshman.

Derrick Jiner was booked into the W.C. "Dub" Brassell Detention Center at 8:05 p.m. Wednesday. He is accused of criminal conspiracy to commit capital murder, treason or a Class Y felony; aggravated assault/terroristic act; engaging in a continuing criminal gang, organization or enterprise; possessing a handgun on school property; and first-degree battery.

Jiner is not a student at UAPB, according to UAPB Campus Police Lt. Theodore Haase. A probable cause hearing for Jiner will likely be held Friday in Jefferson County District Court.

The 18-year-old freshman was treated for a flesh wound to his left arm and released from Jefferson Regional by Oct.
