The local Friends of NRA committee raised more than $$27,000 at its annual charity dinner Sept. 20 at Harbor Oaks Restaurant in Pine Bluff.

The local Friends of NRA committee raised more than $$27,000 at its annual charity dinner Sept. 20 at Harbor Oaks Restaurant in Pine Bluff.


"That is the largest amount of money ever raised at the Pine Bluff event since they started nine years ago," a spokesman said.


The funds will be awarded as grants for youth firearms safety training and range development.


The event included drawings, games, a silent auction and a live auction. Sponsors included Hunter’s Refuge, Cotton Belt Federal Credit Union, FB&T Bank & Trust, Relyance Bank, Brownlee Electric, Bryan Logan Trucking, Reynolds Construction, C&F Controls, the Washing Well, Smart Auto Group, Rep. Ken Bragg, Tray Meyer and the Pine Bluff Gun Club.


Friends of NRA is a 501(c)(3) charity. There are 25 committees in Arkansas and more than 1,000 nationwide.
