The Pines mall welcomed a new store in October called Preppy Chicks $1 Jewelry and More.

Terence Mitchner and Tonya Mitchner are managers of the store, which opened on Oct. 4.

With an eye toward affordable clothes and accessories, Preppy Chicks provides personalized attention to each customer, Tonya Mitchner said. She offers a complimentary cup of lemonade or bottle of water to customers.

"People are loving our store," she said. "We are getting customers from the rural areas to Pine Bluff to White Hall and surrounding areas."

Preppy Chicks sells shirts, pants, leggings, cardigans, skirts, blouses, bows and hats. As far as names of brands the store carries Mud Pie, Grace in LA Jeans and Jadelynn Brooke.

The Mitchners have hired one employee and expect to add more people as the holidays approach. The said the keys to their success include providing personalized service with a smile.

"We love seeing people happy and getting cute clothes," Tonya Mitchner said. "One of our mottos is ‘preppy people are happy people.’"

To show their appreciation to customers, Preppy Chicks is offering a 10 percent rebate through Facebook and Instagram.

Asked to name a challenge in managing the store, Tonya Mitchner said it would be offering an inventory that meets the needs of all customers.

On a recent Monday customers came into the store, shopping for an assortment of clothes. Morgan Brown shopped for dresses and seemed to enjoy her experience.

"I am trying on multiple dresses," Brown said. "The staff is super friendly; you can’t beat it."

Terance Mitchner said that Preppy Chicks appeals to children and adults for a variety of reasons.

"We offer a boutique without the boutique prices," Terance Mitchner said.

In addition, they sell University of Arkansas Razorbacks apparel for babies.

"The Razorbacks gear is always in style, no matter the season," Terance Mitchner said.

The store is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday; and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. The store’s phone number is 870-247-4277.
