Union Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, 1121 S. Persimmon St., will host the first pastoral anniversary honoring the Rev. Antonio Gayden Sr. and Loretta Gayden, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Clifton A. Conley, pastor of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church at Little Rock, accompanied by his congregation.


Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, U.S. 425 in the Ladd community, will celebrate the 30th pastoral appreciation of the Rev. Charles Helloms Jr. and Freddie Helloms, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Walter May, pastor of Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church, accompanied by his congregation.


Black History


Faith Presbyterian Church, 913 University Drive, will host the annual "Sermon in Poetry and Music" during its black history worship service at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 15. Participants will include students and staff from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.


Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 6300 U.S. 79 South, will host a black history celebration at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15.


New Cheek Chapel AME Church at Pastoria will celebrate its black history/founder’s day program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Roy Thomas, pastor of Eudora Baptist Church at Altheimer. Musical guests will include the Buchanan Family, Pastoria Singing Union and choirs from Eudora and Morris Chapel churches.


Hope Apostolic Faith Ministries, 5910 Carbon St., will host its annual heritage day at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15. African American honorees include the guest speaker, Leydel Willis, principal at Watson Chapel High School; the late Dr. Cleon Flowers Sr. and the late attorney William Flowers Sr., who also served as a judge.


Almeta Missionary Baptist Church at Reedville will host its annual black history observance at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Ronald Neal, pastor of New Bethel Church Ministry at Winchester.


Happy Home Missionary Baptist Church at Jefferson will host its black history program at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 15.


Breath of Life Church, 1313 Pine St., will celebrate black history at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 15. The guest speaker will be President Roderick Smothers Sr. of Philander Smith College, who was selected the 14th leader of the college Oct. 1, 2014.


Auburn Missionary Baptist Church at Gould will host its annual black history program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15. The guest speaker will be former state representative Lindbergh Thomas.


Traveler’s Rest Baptist Church at Grady will celebrate black history during an Old Ship of Zion program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15. The Rev. George H. Barnes Sr. will be the narrator. Participants will include soloists Rose Harrison, Diane Gibson, Elnora Harris and the Rev. Victor Dolls.


Unity Temple Church of God in Christ, 4401 W. Sixth Ave., will celebrate black history, at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 15. Nina Clardy, the first lady of Unity Temple, will be the speaker.


New Morning Star Baptist Church at Cornerstone will observe its Black History/Old Fashioned Day at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 15. The guest minister will be the Rev. Jerry Goins, pastor of First Baptist Church on U.S. 425, along with his church.


Old Morning Star Baptist Church, 3116 Port Road, will host a black history program at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, featuring Alexis Ware of New Life Church at Little Rock.


Ezekiel Missionary Baptist Church, 121 W. Martin St., will celebrate black history month, at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 15. The guest speaker will be Alfred Leotis Rogers of Little Rock.


Concert


Southside Singing Center, 5420 W. 15th Ave., will have a singing program at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15. Guests will include the Sensational Soul Revivals, Shinning Stars, Mighty Gospelettes, Christland, the White Family and the Gloriettes.


Special events


The Church of God, 7111 Shannon Road, will hosting a free Valentine’s Dinner for the community from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14. Transportation can be provided if the church is notified in advance. The city wide mission will meet at First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16.


Ronald Young Ministries will host its prayer, praise and preaching services on the first and third Fridays at 7 p.m. at New Bethel #1 Outreach Ministry, 1320 Magnolia St. The speaker will be the Rev. Ronald Lavelle Young Sr.


St. Paul AME Church, 4143 Highway 190 East, will present its Steeple Dedication Worship Service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Alvin Smith, pastor of St. John AME Church. The Rev. James Thomas, presiding elder of the Pine Bluff/Helena District, will be preside over the steeple ceremony.


Faith in Action Ministries, 316 S. Poplar St., will celebrate friends and family day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15. The guest speaker will be Rev. Richard Cooley, pastor of the Church on the Rock.


Barnett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1321 N. Birch St., will host its annual mission program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Anthony Craig, pastor of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church.


Men’s Day


Prayer Garden Christian Faith Center Church of God in Christ, 800 S. Apple St., will observe its annual men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15. The guest evangelist will be Clarence Peacock of Moments of Truth Evangelistic Ministries.
