Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church at McGehee will celebrate the ninth anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. William and Myra Jarmon, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. The guest speaker will be the Rev. George Barnes, pastor of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff, accompanied by his congregation.


True Worshippers Apostolic Church, 106 N. Bloom St., (Packing Town community), will begin the 27th pastoral anniversary of the apostle, Larry C. Nance Sr., and wife, Mary Nance, a minister, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27. The guest speaker will be Irvin Cunning, bishop and pastor of All Nations Tabernacle of God.


First Trinity Church of God in Christ, 700 S. Catalpa St., will begin its 46th annual homecoming celebration, at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, with a concert. Guests will include Dedric Jones and Chosen Praise. Sunday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m., the guest speaker will be Elder Haywood Battles of Little Rock and pastor of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ at Pine Bluff. At 3 p.m. Sunday, service will be held at the Trinity annex, 2900 W. Sixth Ave., with Bishop Joe Mason, jurisdictional prelate of the Arkansas 3rd Jurisdiction, as the keynote speaker.


St. Luke AME Church, 9908 Princeton Pike, will celebrate its 130th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. The guest speaker will be Rev. Randolph Martin, pastor of Allen Temple AME Church.


Pine Street Baptist Church at Star City will host the 16th anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Victor and Linda Dolls, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Bishop Danny Mays, pastor of Emmanuel Temple Church of God in Christ at Hamburg.


Black History


Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 3006 Kentucky St., will host its annual black history program at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. The youth ministry will be in charge with songs and speaking.


The youth department of Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2401 Port Road, will celebrate the annual black history program at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. The speaker will be the Rev. Dontae Nicholson, youth minister at Amos Chapel.


Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 W. Pullen St., will observe an African American history program at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. Roland Banks, a member of the church, will be the speaker. A soul food dinner will be served after the service.


New Hope CME Church, 901 E. 21st Ave., will host its stewardesses and black history program at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. The guest speaker will be Arkansas Court of Appeals Judge Waymond Brown, who is also a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. A soul food dinner will be served after the service.


Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Highway 133 in the Faith community, will hold its black history musical at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. Guests will include choirs from Liberty Hill, New Jericho, Rose Hill, Mt. Nebo and Mulberry Grove churches from Pine Bluff.


Joy Community Church, 2101 E. Sixth Ave., will celebrate African American History at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. Members and visitors are asked to wear African attire. The speaker will be the pastor, the Rev. Curtis Cook.


The youth department at First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will host its black history dinner theater at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. The menu includes fried and baked chicken, yams, macaroni and cheese, rolls/cornbread and a variety of desserts. Tickets are $10 per person. Details: 870-413-9897.


Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 2915 S. Main St., will celebrate its black history program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Alvin Dunlap of Prairie Lake Missionary Baptist Church.


St. Andrew AME Church, 701 Franklin St., will hold its black history celebration at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. Ray Hobbs, former director of the state Department of Correction, will be the featured speaker, followed by a question and answer session. Guest soloists will be Onia Walters, LaMyka Jackson and Vivian Meeks. Everyone is invited to attend and wear African attire or colors black, red and green.


Concerts/Musicals


Liberty Faith Church at Pine Bluff will present a pre-anniversary musical honoring their pastor and wife, the Rev. Leon and Gloria Warren, at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 900 Grant St. Guests will include the Beard Singers, Shaee & Frenz, the Williams Singers and Barnes Sisters. Those who arrive between 5 and 5:15 p.m. will receive tickets to win prizes during the musical.


The Pastoria Singing Union’s worship services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, at Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill.


Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will host a black history concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. Members of the Dollarway High School Choir will perform.


Heart 2 Heart Ministries will present a Celebration of Gospel Heritage at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at Hunts Memorial Cathedral of Faith at Dumas. Participants will include the Felecia and the Supreme Angles of Forrest City, Alma Brown and the Al Gospels Singers of Little Rock, Totally Committed, Heavenly Hearts and Endure. The cost is $6.


Special events


Victory Faith Church of God in Christ, 1517 S. Poplar St., will sponsor a praise extravaganza at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, featuring praise dancers from Victory Faith along with dancers and singers from the community.


New Life Ministry Church will hold its first benefit program at Faith in Action Ministries, 316 S. Poplar St., at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. The guest speaker will be Elder Lugene Boyd, pastor of Redeem Temple Church of God in Christ.


First Pentecostal Church of Jesus Only, 1308 Holly St., will host Women on the Front Line monthly series at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. The speaker will be Charlene Winston, an evangelist.


Eternal Life Ministry, 503 Pryce St., will host its church fellowship at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. The guest speaker will be Sheilar Wofford, pastor of Eagle Saints Outreach Ministries of Little Rock.


Evangelistic Outreach Church, 620 LA "Prexy" Davis Drive, will host the birthday celebration of its apostle, Emma Luckett, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. The guest speaker will be Alphonso Montgomery, an apostle from Little Rock.


Eudora Missionary Baptist Church, 9405 Middle Warren Road, will host the pastoral installation of the Rev. Theophilus Smith at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Melvin D. Graves, pastor of New Town Missionary Baptist Church.


Bethel New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2522 Pryce St., will host a Celebration of Love at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21. The event will include a chili/soup cook off, Family Feud and a Newly and Seasoned Wed Game. The cost is $10 for those 18 and older, $5 for 6 to 17 year olds and free for children 5 years old or younger.
