A man fell to his death Friday while working at a construction site of a future Trotter Auto Group dealership in Pine Bluff.

Daniel Burgess was working at 3801 Bobo Road, which is near Old Warren Road and Interstate 530 at Exit 41. Burgess fell at the construction site and was taken from the scene of the accident to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley said.

Burgess was pronounced dead by an emergency room doctor on Friday because of injuries sustained in the fall, Kelley said. Burgess’ body was taken to the Arkansas medical examiner’s office on Saturday, Kelley said.

A representative of Scott Systems said Burgess worked for that company. The representative said Scott Systems employees are having a hard time coping with his death and did not wish to comment.

Trotter Auto Group President Ford Trotter III called the death a "horrible tragedy." He referred questions to Harco Construction, the general contractor.

Harco Construction did not return a phone call seeking comment by press time.
