A Monticello man was killed and two other people injured in a one-vehicle accident Monday afternoon in Lincoln County.

According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, Tommy Lamar Hammil, 48, was driving a 2007 GMC Sierra northbound on Nevada Road and, while negotiating a curve, lost control of the vehicle, which went into a ditch, hit an embankment and overturned several times.

Hammil was pronounced dead at the scene by Lincoln County Coroner Jimmy Hawkins.

Two passengers in the vehicle — Jerry Lee Davis, 62, of Monticello and Linda Goff, 46, of Dumas — were injured and taken to Delta Memorial Hospital at Dumas for treatment.

The accident was reported at 1:50 p.m. and, according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Lamb, the weather was clear and the roadway dry at the time.
