An 18-year-old male was struck by a vehicle at about 6:15 p.m. Wednesday near East 27th Avenue and South Main Street.

The identity of the victim was not immediately available Wednesday. His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Pine Bluff Police Department spokesman Lt. David Price said.

Price said a gold 2007 Toyota Camry was driving east on East 27th Avenue when the teen, who was on the south side of the street, started to cross the street going northbound when he was struck by the vehicle.

At the scene, the victim was conscious. Pine Bluff Fire & Emergency Services personnel had performed the preliminary emergency medical response work — including strapping him to a carrying board and stabilizing his neck in a brace — so he was ready to go into the ambulance as soon as it arrived a short time later.

The accident occurred on a narrow stretch of East 27th Avenue between Main and Georgia streets.

The accident is still under investigation.
