WHITE HALL — Mrs. Melva B. Wright, 93, of White Hall, AR passed Monday, May 21, 2018. She was born in Summit, MS to the late Claude Allen, Sr. and Bertha Williams Allen.

She leaves to cherish her memories to: One Son, Rev. Harlis Wright of White Hall; One Daughter, Regina Ann McFadden of Pine Bluff, AR; One Brother, Claude Allen, Jr. of Oakland, CA; Two Sisters, Emma Binns of Oakland, CA and Helen Butler of Compton, CA; Six Grandchildren; Five Great-Grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Faith Presbyterian Church by Rev. Laydell Jordan. Interment will be in Cypress Memorial Garden by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff, AR.

Visitation will be Monday, 5-7p.m., at Brown Funeral Home.

Her body will lie in-state Tuesday, 10:15 a.m., until service.


Howard Hipp

“Always be kind, considerate, and understanding.” This was the philosophy of Howard Eugene Hipp, age 89, of Pine Bluff, who died Friday, May 25, 2018.

Born December 15, 1928 at Murfreesboro, AR, he was a son of the late George Howard Hipp and Willie Juanita Hill. He was of the Baptist faith.

He had served in the United States Navy for four years, and later in the Army Reserves and Coast Guard Reserves.

After moving to Pine Bluff in 1959, Howard began a 27-year career with the Pine Bluff Police Department. He worked through the ranks of patrolman, K-9 Unit, public relations, and was a Lieutenant and shift commander at the time of his retirement in 1986. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.

Howard loved being outdoors, whether it was camping, fishing, yard work, or just “piddling”. He was also an avid collector of what his fellow officers called “200” material.

In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by a sister, Kathy Hill; and a brother-in-law, S. T. Golden.

Survivors include his wife, Tommye Kimmer Hipp; four children, Skipper Hipp (Laura), Deborah Simpson (John), Donna Newton (Greg), and Mike Hipp (Stacie); two brothers, Dewey Hipp (Janie) and Jerry Hill (Linda); a sister, Jo Golden; nine grandchildren, Leslie Hipp, Bo Hipp, Jason Simpson, Jacob Newton, Gregory Newton, Ashley Blessing, Sven Hipp, Bren Hipp, and Harlie Hipp; along with five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Lost Creek Cemetery at Sheridan.

Visitation will be Tuesday, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
