Elzie Woods, Jr., 66, of Pine Bluff, passed February 28, 2019. Born April 17, 1952 to the late Elzie and Drusilla Reynolds Woods, Sr.


Survivors include his wife, Altree Woods of Pine Bluff; three sons; Rodney Woods of Dallas, Texas, Elzie Woods III of Lancaster, Texas and Steven Woods of Bedford, Texas; a daughter, Fallon Woods of Jacksonville, Arkansas; brother, Rev. Lafayette (Gwendolyn) Woods, Sr. of Pine Bluff; four sisters; Ida B. Woods, Bobbie Jean Woods-Estis, Bernestine (Dwight, Sr.) Bennett and Lois Ann (James) Williams all of Pine Bluff and three grandchildren.


Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 A. M. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church by Rev. Anthony Craig. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery by Henson-Holcomb Mortuary.


Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 P. M. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.


Bobby Sawyer


Bobby Earl Sawyer, 70 of Pine Bluff, passed away, Tuesday, March 5, 2019. Born November 6, 1948 at Dermott, he was the son of the late Earl Burdette Sawyer and Lelar Mae Lain Sawyer.


A 1967 graduate of Pine Bluff High School, Bob was baptized in the First Free Will Baptist church.


An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed the serenity of the hunting woods and fishing bank. Bob was carpenter by trade and prided himself with his ability to create things with his hands.


He is survived by his children, Deborah Brown, and Robert Sawyer and wife Dia; a sister, Barbara Greer and husband Harold; former wife and caretaker, Linda Sawyer; grandchildren, Lindsey Cook, Allison Patterson, Hayden Sawyer, Christian Sawyer, Beau Sawyer, Harrison Moore and Emme Moore; great-grandchildren, Brinlee, Brielle, Aiden and Lily.


Visitation will be Saturday, March 9th, two o’clock in the afternoon at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel followed by graveside services in Macedonia Cemetery (Cleveland County).


Wanda Peterson


With profound sadness we announce the passing of Wanda “Kathy” Peterson, our loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on March 6, 2019.


She left us while sleeping peacefully at her residence in Traskwood, AR. She was 64.


Kathy was born on a military base in California to the Late E.R. and Evelyn Johnston. She met her husband, Huey at the age of 14 and later married him in June of 1972. She deserves a halo for these 45 years.


She is survived by her husband Huey, children Amy (Davey) Tankersley, Cindi Peterson, James (Niki) Tallent and William (Roxanne) Bunt all of Traskwood. Grandchildren Damon and Matthew Tankersley, Zachary and Grace Reese, Mark, Steven, Austin, Justice Tallent, Ethan White and James and Kassidy Bunt. Honorary grandchildren Ellie, Tessa, Willow, Jay, Dawlton, Jaxon, Madison and Jordan. Also survived by a multitude of other family and friends.


She is proceeded in death by her parents E.R and Evelyn Johnston, brother-in-law Tommy Gateley, father-in-law’s Huey Peterson Sr and Jim Gateley, multiple aunts and uncles and grandparents.


Visitation will be 4-6 pm Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel in Malvern. Services will be 1:00 pm at Atkinson Chapel on Monday, March 11, 2019. Interment will be at Traskwood Cemetery.

Loyd Hill


Loyd L. Hill, 82, of the Woodlawn Community, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, March 06, 2019, at St. Vincent Medical Center in Little Rock.


Mr. Hill was born March 22, 1937, in Oden, Arkansas, to the late Hugh and Ruby Trotter Hill. He grew up in Gould, where he attended Gould High School.


Mr. Hill was a truck driver for Synergy Gas for 25 years from which he retired.


He was a member of First Baptist Church of Altheimer. During his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hunting, and camping.


Mr. Hill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Jones Hill of Woodlawn; son, Greg (Carla) Hill of Woodlawn; two daughters, Janie (David) Hartsfield and Cindi (Tom) Rushing, both of Woodlawn; four grandchildren, Chasity (Jeff) Allred, Tanner (Emily) Hartsfield, Tyler Hartsfield, and Ashley Hill; two great-grandchildren, Brinley and Aubrie Allred; two sisters, Patricia Masters and Wilma Polk, both of Georgia.


He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Trent Hill, brother, Jim Hill, and two sisters, Sue Addington and Laverne Polk.


The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Robinson’s.


Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 9, 2019, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son with Reverend Travis Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Flat Bayou Cemetery.
