Joseph Welch


Joseph Melvin Welch, 71, of Benton, Arkansas passed away April 30, 2019. He was born July 13, 1947 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late J.J. and Mary Kathleen Welch.


Joe was a member of Benton First United Methodist Church. He was a 1965 graduate of Pine Bluff High School and a 1970 graduate of the University of Arkansas. Joe was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired as a supervisor for disability determination for Social Security. Joe’s passion was his children and grandchildren-he was their biggest fan. He was a talented, amateur artist. Joe was very active and enjoyed spending time outdoors riding his bike, walking the neighborhood, and kayaking.


Preceding Joe in death are his parents; brother, Jimmy Welch; and sister, Peggy Welch.


He leaves to cherish his memory his three children: Leah Graddy and husband Rob of Alexander, Arkansas; Matt Welch and wife Susan of Benton and Kirk Welch and wife Betsy of Benton; six grandchildren: Zachary Graddy, Emma Graddy, Brennan Welch, Maddie Welch, Sunny Welch, and Evan Welch; and extended family and friends who love Joe and will miss him always.


Visitation will be held 1:00-2:00 PM, Monday, May 6, at Benton First United Methodist Church followed by memorial service at 2:00 PM.

Ms. Gloria Dean Haywood, 64, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas passed Saturday, April 27, 2019.


Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church Pine Bluff, AR by Rev. Anthony Walker. Burial in Cypress Memorial Gardens by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.

Cleophis Turner


Services for Cleophis Turner who passed on April 24th will be as follows family hour/reflections - Friday, May 3rd, at the P.K. Miller Mortuary from 5-7 p.m.


Service hour: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 4th, at First Trinity Church located 800 South Catalpa. His body will lie in repose from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour.


He leaves to cherish his memory a wife, Ardelia Kay Young Turner; Children: Kyra Levonne Turner- Paris, France, and Coby Cleon Turner (Tari) Ft. Belvoir,Virginia, grandchildren- Natalie Cimone Turner and Timothy Grant Turner and a host of other friends and relatives.

Fred Shepherd


Mr. Fred Allen Shepherd, Sr., 60, of Pine Bluff passed away on April 25, 2019. He was born March 25, 1959 to the late Olevia A. Wiley Shepherd and Samson Shepherd.


Funeral Service will be 11:00am on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Willie Laws officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens by Paradise Funeral Home of Pine Bluff.


Visitation/Family Hour will be 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2019 at the funeral home. “Only Paradise Can Serve You Better!”
