Jonnie Ruth Swafford Locke Taylor, 79, of Pine Bluff, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Hospice Homecare, Inc., in Little Rock.

Mrs. Taylor was born November 15, 1939, in Flatwoods, Tennessee, to the late Hessie Mary Hickerson Belsha of Flatwoods, Tennessee and the late Clovis Foy Belsha of Wayne County, Tennessee. She was reared and received her early education in Linden, Tennessee and graduated from Lewis County High School in Hohenwald, Tennessee in 1958. Mrs. Taylor had lived in New Mexico and Texas before moving to Pine Bluff in 1970. She became the 2nd woman school bus driver for the School District of Pine Bluff. She also recruited other women to drive school buses. She owned and operated Jonnie’s Pawn and Gun on Blake Street, North Cedar Pawn Shop and the Money Corner.

She was baptized at Summit Baptist Church and was currently attending New Home Missionary Baptist Church. She was also very involved in her children’s activities when they were young. She had served as a Den Mother for Boy Scouts and was also involved in Girl Scouts. She was “team mom” for several of the baseball teams that her chidren were involved with as well.

During her spare time, she enjoyed hunting for arrowheads, antiquing, playing bingo and helping raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Lee Ray Taylor, whom she married March 11, 2012 in Pine Bluff; daughter, Myra (Rick) Aulds of Pine Bluff; two sons, Darcy (Denise) Swafford of Fort Myers, Florida and Perry Swafford of Pine Bluff; stepchildren,

Dale Swafford, Johnny (Ann) Swafford, and Jerry (Lois) Swafford, all of Richmond Hills, Georgia, Russell (Cherie) Locke of Pine Bluff, Melanie (Les) Miller of Mt. Ida, Arkansas and Annette (George) Creighton of Auburn, Alabama; grandchildren, Joe Swafford, Tim Aulds, Katie (Austin) Rhodes, Erica Swafford, Peyton Aulds Musgrove, Caroline Rose and Madison Heflin; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Aulds, Easton Musgrove, and Brianna Blackwell.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joe A. Swafford; her second husband, Donald Locke; and her brother, Donald Belsha.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2019, 7:00 PM, in the Chapel of

Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverends Joseph Pemberton, Todd Anderson and Tom Hart officiating. There will be a visitation prior to the service from 5:30-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
