Ms. Virgie Lee Davenport Gray, 87, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, passed July 18, 2019. She is joined by her husband Joseph Gray; parents, Lewis and Lillian Davenport, who preceded her in death.

Loving memories left to a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 26, 2019, 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Christian Way Funeral Home, 3705 W. 6th Ave.

Homegoing Celebration will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 27, 2019, at Christian Way Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state from 10:15 a.m. until time of service.

Interment will follow in Mt Olive Church Cemetery. .

Elizabeth Brockman

Elizabeth Dearing Westbrook Brockman, 96, died Tuesday, July 23, 2019, in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

She was born October 23, 1922, at Parkin, Arkansas, a daughter of the late John T. and Kathrina Moore Dearing. When she was three years old, she moved with the family to Pine Bluff where she received her early education, graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1940. She attended Ouachita Baptist College in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.

In 1946 she married Howell Falconer Westbrook. He died in 1974. She married E. W. Brockman, Jr., in 1976. She had worked as secretary to the principals at Watson Chapel High School and White Hall High School. After her marriage to E. W. Brockman, she worked in the office of Brockman, Norton & Taylor. A member of First Presbyterian Church, she had taught Sunday School and been in the choir. She moved to Hot Springs in 2013.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her first husband, Howell Falconer “Sonny” Westbrook; her second husband, E. W. Brockman, Jr.; brother, John T. Dearing, Jr.; and sister, Lyda Sue Dearing Culbreath.

Survivors include a son, Howell Dearing Westbrook (Betty) of Jonesboro, Arkansas; two daughters, Elizabeth “Betsy” Westbrook Burrow of White Hall, Arkansas and Ann Westbrook Raines (Robert) of Hot Springs, Arkansas; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren

The family will receive guests from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Ralph Robinson and Son in Pine Bluff Friday, July 26, 2019, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Robinson’s.

James F. Bryles

James F. Bryles, 80, of Pine Bluff, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at his home.

Mr. Bryles was born August 29, 1938, in Pine Bluff, the son of the late Collice Bryles and Eula Laminack Bryles. He was reared in Pine Bluff where he graduated from Watson Chapel High School in 1956. After high school, he served his country in the United States National Guard and Army Reserve and was active in the United States Army.

He married Bonnie Sue Wafford, September 4, 1959, in Pine Bluff.

Mr. Bryles was a millwork manager and retired from Greenfield Millworks in North Little Rock in 2010.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Bonnie Sue Bryles of Pine Bluff; his daughter, Gail (Kendon) Echols of Pine Bluff; son, Dr. Scott Bryles of Little Rock; grandson, Tyler Graham; two step granddaughters, Faith Echols and Kendra Jones; and a step grandson, Andy Craig.

There will be no formal visitation.

Graveside funeral services will be at Clement Cemetery on Friday, July 26, 2019, 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Dean Dancer officiating.
