Lois Ruth Wesson-Rack, 86, of Augusta, Arkansas passed away August 19, 2019. Her visitation will be held, Friday, August 23rd at East End COGIC 6:00pm – 8:00 pm. Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, August 24th at Holy Ghost Academy Church of God In Christ in Augusta, Arkansas at 10:30 am.

James Grimes


James P. Grimes, 78, of Pine Bluff, went to be with the Lord, Friday, August 16, 2019, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.


Mr. Grimes was born December 8, 1940, in Marion, Kentucky, a son of the late Charles Perry and Emma Josephine Barr Grimes. He was reared and received his education in Pine Bluff, where he graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1959. After high school, he served in the United States National Guard.


Mr. Grimes started his working career as a pipefitter and later became a maintenance supervisor at International Paper Company (currently Evergreen Packaging) in Pine Bluff from which he retired in 1991.


He was a member of First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church. He also served as a Mason.


Mr. Grimes is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Ann Bumpass Grimes whom he married August 29, 1964 in Pine Bluff; two sons, Mike (Rhonda) Grimes of Pine Bluff, Keith (Missy) Grimes of Grapevine; grandchildren, Connor, Kayla, Nathan and Terah Grimes; brothers, Charles (Beverly) Grimes of Prague, Ronnie (Carolyn) Grimes of Loveland, Colorado; nephews, Lonnie and Terry Grimes; niece, Cheri Lozaw and a host of friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents.


The family will receive friends, Friday, August 23, 2019, at 6 to 8 PM at First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church.


Funeral services by Ralph Robinson & Son will be Saturday, August 24, 2019, at 10 AM, First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, with Reverends Robert Cossey and Rick Glover officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Charles Hays


Charles Gregory Hays, age 62, of Sheridan went to be with his Lord on Monday, August 19, 2019. He was born June 13, 1957 in Pine Bluff to the late Jack and Sarah Hays. In his early years he attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School later graduating from Watson Chapel High School in 1975. He worked at the Jefferson County Courthouse for over 43 years. He enjoyed, fishing, grilling, weather watching and most of all spending time with his family.


He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Lori Hays, his daughters, Miranda Ward and her husband Ryan, Rebekka Traywick and her husband Calvin, one brother, Jack Hays and his wife Judy, grandchildren, Alexander Ward, Hannah Grace Ward and Samuel Blair. He is also survived by his family at the Jefferson County Courthouse and numerous other family and friends.


Honorary Pallbearers will be Kirk McCullough, Hurley Ragar, Dillon Offutt, Greg Lawrence, Buddy Reed, Ryan Ward, Calvin Traywick, Alex Ward, Jack Hays and Thomas Raymick.


Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Buie Funeral Home.

Geneva Peterson


Geneva A. Smith Peterson, 70, lifelong resident of Cleveland County, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.


Mrs. Peterson was born March 30, 1949, in Rison, a daughter of the late Matthew W. and Arie A. Stover Smith. She was reared and received her education in Woodlawn, where she graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1961.


She married Leonard A. Peterson, May 20, 1967, in Rison.


She started her working career as a secretary for Electrolux in 1975 and worked there until 1988. Mrs. Peterson went to work for Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Home, where she worked as a preneed counselor for 16 years.


She was a member of Rison Pentecostal Church of God, where she formerly served as a Sunday School Teacher.


Mrs. Peterson is survived by her husband of 52 years, Leonard A. Peterson; three daughters, Susan Starks, Tammy Fullbright, and Holly Riley, all of Rison; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; seven great-step-grandchildren; stepdaughter, Beverly Griswold of Sparks, Nevada; two brothers, Jim Smith, and Will H. Smith, both of Rison; and a sister, Joyce Campbell of Pine Bluff.


She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Curtis Aud; sister, Jo Ann Miller; and a great-grandson, Jaxson Fullbright.


The family will receive friends Thursday, August 22, 2019, 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at Robinson’s.


Funeral services will be held Friday, August 23, 2019, 10:30 AM, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Wooley officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Cleveland County.
