Dorothy Barnes Loyd, age 91, of Pine Bluff, passed away Saturday, February 29, 2020.
Born May 23, 1928 in Clark County, she was one of 13 children of William Penn Nash and Bessie Ethel Deaton Nash. She was reared and educated at Sparkman and attended Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphia.
She taught school in Prattsville for two years, and while there, met her husband and the father of her children, Fred Harper Barnes, Sr. They were married for 40 years prior to his death in 1988.
Mrs. Barnes was a longtime member of South Side Baptist Church.
She was also predeceased by a grandson, Corey Harp; eight brothers; one sister; and her second husband, W. B. Loyd.
Survivors include her children Barney Barnes and wife Kay of Mt. Ida, Cindy Harp and husband Joe of White Hall, and Stacy Barksdale and husband Frank of Bryant; her grandchildren, Shane Harp, Spenser, Dexter, and Hunter Barksdale, and Tyler Barnes; great-grandchildren, Wes and Cade Harp, Lyla June and Nash Barksdale, Austin Barksdale, and Harper Barnes; and three brothers, Robert Nash of Fayetteville, Roland Nash of Sheridan, and Hollis Nash of Bearden.
A private graveside service was held on Monday, March 2, 2020 in New Hope Cemetery in Grant County by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services.
