Mrs. Maxine Gates Hayes, 81, of Jefferson, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2020.

Debra Banks


DEBRA ELMARIE HENCE BANKS was born November 13, 1940, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to Arthur Ben Hence and Alvirdia Tisdale Hence.


She graduated from Coleman High School and Arkansas AM&N College (University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff). She taught at Moro, Bearden, Barnes, Altheimer and Dollarway School Districts. She retired after serving for 37 years.


DEBRA was married to James Lee Banks on January 21, 1962, and to this union two children were born: Dr. Raynando Banks and Terri Banks Williams.


DEBRA departed this life on Thursday, June 25, 2020. DEBRA leaves to cherish her memories: son, Dr. Raynando L. Banks (Belinda), Baton Rouge, LA; daughter, Terri B. Williams, Conyers, GA; two sisters, Verdia M. Hence, Little Rock, AR, Brenda H. Mixon (George), Lakeland TN; brother, Benjamin F. Hence, Pine Bluff, AR.; five grandsons, Malcolm Banks, Raynando Banks, Jr., Ramesses Banks, Sr., Yoseff Banks, Sultan Williams; one great-grandson, Ramesses Banks, Jr.; two special nephews, Keith Williams and Brian Mixon and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.


The body will lie in state at St. Luke A.M.E. Church on Princeton Pike Road from 1 to 1:45 p.m. on July 3, 2020, and the Graveside ceremony at 2 p.m. at the St. Luke Cemetery by Rev. Dr. Hazel Linton. Sandra Power


Sandra Kay Power, 68, of Pine Bluff, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2020. She was born July 17, 1951 at Ft. Eustis, Virginia to the late Henry Joe and Bertha White Baughman.


Sandra attended Dollarway High School, then worked for Walmart in Pine Bluff for over 34 years. She was a member of White Hall United Pentecostal Church.


Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 47 years, Marvin “Ed” Power Sr., whom she married January 26, 1971, in Pine Bluff, and who passed away March 4, 2018; her son, Marvin “Eddie” Power Jr.; and a brother, Henry “Butch” Baughman.


Survivors include her daughter, Angela Eastman (Craig); two brothers, William Baughman and Steven Baughman; two sisters, Cindy Standridge and Sharon Baughman; daughter-in-law, Tracy Tallent; and three grandchildren, Zachary (Naomi Brian), Madison and Nicholas.
